A growing share of searches now end in an AI-generated answer rather than a list of links. This is the work that decides whether your business appears in those answers or your competitor does.
You might be ranking third for that query. It doesn’t matter — the answer was assembled from sources the AI could read, understand and trust, and if you weren’t one of them, you weren’t in the conversation at all.
This isn’t a replacement for SEO. The technical foundations overlap heavily, and a site that ranks well is usually a better citation candidate than one that doesn’t. But the content requirements are different enough that most sites optimised for traditional search are invisible to AI systems, for reasons that are entirely fixable.
Most agency websites are the worst offenders, because they’re written in the language of marketing rather than the language of specific, verifiable information. There’s nothing for an AI to quote.
This is the part almost nobody explains, so here it is plainly.
An AI needs to lift a complete answer without needing the surrounding page. That means a direct answer in the first sentence of a section, headings that match how people actually ask questions, and no burying the point in paragraph four.
“We deliver excellent results” is unquotable. “Website builds start at £1,450 and take two to five weeks” is a fact an AI can use. Numbers, dates, named tools and concrete claims are what get cited. Adjectives are not.
Content attributed to a named person with a real bio is treated very differently from anonymous content. Most agency blogs have no author at all.
AI systems build a picture of who you are from everything they can find — your site, Google Business Profile, Companies House, LinkedIn, directories. When those disagree about your name, address, phone number or what you do, confidence drops. This is the most commonly broken one and the easiest to fix.
If the content only renders after JavaScript executes, many crawlers never see it. Accordions that load empty, “load more” buttons, JS-driven testimonials — all invisible.
The strongest citation magnet is something nobody else has. Original data, a named methodology, a specific process, a real case study with numbers. Restating what fifty other sites already said gives an AI no reason to choose you.
AEO and GEO aren’t a separate discipline bolted onto SEO. They’re a content and structure discipline that happens to also make your pages better for humans.
We test what AI engines currently say about you, your competitors and your category.
Name, address, phone, description and category made consistent everywhere they appear.
Schema, extractable answer blocks, question-led headings and technically accessible content.
Named authors, real bios, credentials and the trust signals AI systems weigh.
Producing the specific, citable material that gives an AI a reason to reference you.
Tracking citations across platforms and adjusting as the systems change.
What ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and AI Overviews currently say.
Content structured so complete answers can be extracted cleanly.
Positioning your business inside AI-generated recommendations and comparisons.
Your business details aligned across every source AI systems read.
Organization, Service, FAQ, Article and Breadcrumb markup implemented properly.
Tracking where and how often AI platforms reference you.
Be realistic about the volume. AI search referrals are growing but still small for most businesses. This is a position worth taking now because it’s cheap to take now — not a channel that replaces SEO or ads this quarter. Anyone telling you otherwise is overselling.
It also overlaps almost entirely with SEO, which is why it’s included in every SEO tier rather than sold separately. The technical work serves both, and the content work makes your pages better for people reading them too.
We don’t sell AI search optimisation separately. The technical and content work overlaps so much with SEO that splitting them into two invoices would be a pricing decision rather than a delivery one.

Because most AI visibility problems start as build decisions.
Mostly emphasis. AEO focuses on being the extracted answer, GEO on appearing in generated recommendations, LLMO on model citations generally. The underlying work is largely the same.
No. It overlaps heavily with it. A site that ranks well is usually a better citation candidate anyway — this is additional content and structure work, not a different channel.
It's included in your SEO cost rather than added to it, so the question is really whether SEO is worth it. If it were priced separately today, we'd tell you to wait.
By testing real queries across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Overviews, tracking whether you appear and how you're described. It's less precise than rankings, and we say so.
Structural changes can affect AI answers within weeks, faster than traditional rankings. Building the authority and original content that earns consistent citation takes months.
No. Nobody can. The systems are opaque, change frequently, and vary by query. What we can do is remove the reasons you're currently not being cited.
